We know it’s been hard! You’re a social bunch and it’s
not easy being away from friends & family. So we’ve got the TNT
nurse in to prescribe some relief from all this lockdown business.

Our medicine won’t fix the Covid-19 virus, but hopefully some of the what we prescribe will make life a bit better in lockdown. We’ve put together a few ideas to help you cope during this crazy time.

While we don’t condone irresponsible drinking. For those of you who know when to stop, a drink or two might make you more tolerable to other house mates, or make you the life and party of your next zoom meet-up. We’ve selected some suitable drinks which will be sure to go down well.

It’s time for a house crawl!

The guys at Northern Monk, know how to relieve the pain of lockdown. They have developed a special four pack selection of beers to enjoy around the house. Watch out for ‘The Tuck Inn’ kitchen stout, it’s got quite a kick!

Take a dip with a Mermaid

Mermaid Pink Gin will be sure to hit the spot. This might just be the sexiest bottle of Gin on the planet with its mermaid scales and curves. Thankfully its contents live up to expectation with a delicate, light and fruity pink gin. Drink it with plenty of ice, a standard tonic and a couple of slices of strawberry to really get the best results.

Spray away all the winter muck!

Kärcher‘s pressure washers are what they are commonly known for, and there’s simply no better tool to clear away all the winter grime and muck. With various levels of power and price you can be sure to find something that best suits your needs and budget. The control plus digital control gives you total control over the power on the lance and a simple twist changes the spray nozzle so it couldn’t be simpler to use.

Mow the lawn!

Dragging the extension reel around the garden with you is a thing of the past with the Kärcher battery powered garden equipment range. They have a selection of tools from chainsaws, hedge trimmers and this fantastic mower. It comes with both grass collection box and a mulcher and is powered with a hefty 18v battery. The battery packs have a digital display with the charge percentage and estimated time left, so you won’t get halfway round the garden and run out of juice. It’s so liberating to be able to go further than the extension cord permits and great to not be constantly avoiding a major electric shock every time your mower gets close to the cord!

Cleaning, that sucks!

Kärcher‘s battery-powered tools also include this very nifty vacuum cleaner. Using the same technology as the mower, this cordless vacuum is perfect for the harder jobs outdoors or in the car. With both wet and dry use you can even use this to clear up liquid spills. It’s got more suction than you would expect from a battery vacuum and a full charge lasts nearly 10 minutes so you’ll have plenty of time to give the car a proper clean inside!

It’s very easy to get stuck in the “I’m on lockdown I don’t care what I look like” frame of mind. You want to look your best on that video call with your pals, and keeping up your personal grooming will do wonders for your self esteem!

Look after your skin!

This isolation can’t be good for our skin. The people at Slow Ageing know a thing or two about skin care and offer a whole selection of facial treatments to keep you looking fresh and keep your skin in tip top condition. They have also come up with a 12-step home facial guide which will not only make your skin feel fabulous, but a bit of pamper time might just pick up your mood too.

Calm that corona-beard down!

There’s been a huge spike in lockdown induced beard experimentation going on around the world and many men have taken this opportunity to indulge in a bit of facial hair growth. Unlike the hipsters of Shorditch, these amateurs know nothing about the art of keeping your beard in good condition so let us point you in the direction of a great bead lotion which will help you look less like a zz top impersonator! The guys at Alchemy have a selection of oils for both beards and barnets, so you’ll be sure to find something to suit.

Kill germs, not your hands!

Washing your hands every 5 minutes and singing happy birthday twice can have a real impact on your hands. Chuck a load of alcohol on in the form of hand sanitiser and you’ll be sure to have hands like your granny by the time lockdown ends. The CBD oil experts “Woodies” have come up with a fabulous product which counteracts the harmful stuff with the addition of CBD oil. According to them, Endocannabinoids regulate the functionality of skin cells, including keratinocytes which form the protective outer layer of the skin. When CBD is applied onto the surface of the skin, the cannabinoids activate and are able to inhibit inflammation, itching and proliferation. If your hands could do with a bit of tlc, then this might be a great solution for you.

NURSE’S PRESCRIPTION 4 – Get off your arse and get active

The British population have never been so healthy. Take away their liberties and give them an hour of exercise each day and the results have been exceptional! Everyone is getting off their arses and doing their allotted time of excerisce.

Get gym fit

Meglio have an awesome range of gym equipment which is perfect for staying active at home. They supply professional gyms so you can be sure their kit is up to the job. They supply gym balls, yoga kit and all sorts of resistance training kit and also plenty of muscle care products like foam rollers.

Keep the kids active!

If you’re in lockdown with kids, then we feel your pain! Trying to keep yourself sane is hard enough, without the strain of young ones who are dossing around the house all day rather than going to school. Thankfully the guys at Decathlon have a great range of garden friendly activities for kids to let off a bit of steam. The Outshock punch bag is a great kids punch bag with gloves included. They also have fabulous soft archery kits.

Get your own personal trainer!

The Auro app has been getting lots of positive reviews due to it’s tailored approach to fitness. Using real fitness instructors and personal trainers and state of the art tracking through your device, it’s a great solution if you’re looking for guidance or just a bit of motivation to your fitness activities.

Look sharp (but stay comfy)

Tog24 have some really great quality loungewear which will help you stay comfortable but not let your appearances slip so far you look like your having a breakdown on your next zoom meeting.

Boys Girls

Stay hydrated

We’ve been super impressed with Red Original products in the past and they are at it again with this very nice stainless steel water bottle. It’s perfect for keeping liquids hot or cool and the perfect way to stay hydrated when you’re out and about. It’s built to last and is beautifully crafted.

NURSE’S PRESCRIPTION 5 – Look after yourself

Everyone has had to adapt to a profoundly different way of life during this lockdown. It’s taken a toll on everyone in one way or another, and as we dig in for the long haul with only glimpses of light at the end of the tunnel, we must be sure to look after our body’s and minds!

Don’t slouch!

Office dwellers may have had their pod ergonomically designed and built to whatever ISO certification you get for that sort of thing, but nobody has really spent the time getting their home working environment fit for purpose. The guys at Ascenti have come up with a great virtual physiotherapy app which will provide you with remote assessments of your working environment by trained experts in getting the perfect office setup for best posture and comfort. They are even offering free sessions for NHS workers and the over 65’s.

Chill out and calm the mind

Our mental wellbeing is getting a battering at the moment with all these things to worry about. Stress is a huge problem for many people and a major contributor to all sorts of other health conditions, so it’s really important to keep your mind in good working order. The Synctuition app is a great tool to help you de-stress and keep your body clock ticking along properly during this challenging time. Using Personalisation and binaural beats, they claim that a 25 minute session provides the same effect as four hours of deep meditation. It’s a bit of a chill out album on steroids, and despite some of the americanisms in the voice over accents it’s a pretty good way to chill out.

Thrive throughout this lockdown!

If you’re really struggling at the moment, then we suggest you seek professional support asap, if you feel like you need a bit of extra support at the moment, then Thrive is a really good app supported by the NHS. Thrive helps you prevent and manage stress, anxiety and related conditions. The game based app can be used to relax before a stressful situation or on a more regular basis to help you live a happier, more stress-free life.

Remember to take care and be kind to each other!

Life hard enough at the best of times, and particularly hard right now. In this modern world of outrage and judgement we need to remember that we’re all going through some sort of adaptation right now, and we’re either coping with extremely stressful or emotionally difficult situations, or just fed up with the government telling us what to do and how to do it. Whatever your pain, remember to smile and be kind to each other and together we’ll get through this. Stay safe!
