The ‘Merkin’ makes a comeback

For those not familiar with a ‘merkin’ – it’s a pubic wig derived from the 1800s, commonly made from fur or linen to cover one’s modesty when one’s whoring had contracted one lice and one had to shave ones pubic area.

Fast-forward to New York Fashion Week and the 21st Century and the merkin has made a comeback! South Korean designer Kaimin took her theme of ‘Oriental Garden’ right down to the ‘lady garden’ and adorned her models with studded leather blazers, tulle bodysuits, mohicans and mohawk merkins in many colours which were to "represent acceptance of individuality with the human vagina", which was alluded to in the live visual art at the show and was emphasised by the mohawk on the runway.

"The main collection strives to reflect individual desire to transform and to become the best version of oneself, ultimately being proud of one's uniqueness." Which I’m all for but I don’t think a pubic wig glued to my nether regions is going to achieve that – not for me anyway….

Deliveroo delivery man bodyboards down snowy hill to deliver Nandos to hungry customers

The Beast from The East hit the UK may be a distant memory now the sun has come out. Let us not forget the heroes who kept the cogs of existence going. Lincoln Deliveroo riders are made of stern stuff and the chicken & chips must get through, so one delivery man was caught on camera by Esme Taylor sliding head first down a hill after shouting “got to get that Nando’s delivered” - not all heroes wear capes, some have ridiculous backpacks too!

Lamarr Chambers breaks British record for not having a crap for 47 days

This (amazing) feat puts Lamarr in a league of his own for not having a crap – that’s nearly 7 weeks people – why? Because the long arm of the law is waiting for it! Chambers is a suspected drug dealer arrested by Essex Police way back on January 17th. It seems that some ‘faecal matter’ was passed but alas none was collected and so the case continues. ‘He did wipe his bottom and there was a stain on the toilet paper,’ prosecutor Kate Wilson said, ‘Had any amount of faecal matter been passed, we would not be in this position today.’ Chambers has since been (unsurprisingly) discharged to hospital where is undergoing treatment.

Tonya Illman and Grace Ricciardo who find the world's oldest message in a bottle in Australia

Its survival is nothing short of a miracle really - the bottle was found wedged in sand with no lid on it after some serious rain and wind hit Wedge Island in January. The message inside was carefully dried out in the oven revealing a date of 12 June 1886 - 131 years ago. A set of coordinates also appeared on the paper which then led to an epic investigation tracing the message back to a 320-ton German barque ship called the 'Paula' - once its autenticity is confirmed by Guinness World Records, the message with take the record by 23 years!

British Columbia couple who adopted pet pig from an animal shelter only to kill and eat her weeks later

Molly, a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig was cared for and brought back to health by British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at the beginning of the year, she was then adopted by a couple from Vancouver and should have started a happy new life – however posts on social media indicated otherwise and that Molly had indeed been slaughtered and eaten by the couple who had underestimated how much care the pig actually needed. The BC SPCA contacted the police however, the couple had not broken any laws - BC SPCA spokeswoman Lorie Chortyk told People. However, because law enforcement determined the slaughter was done humanely, there’s not much action the BC SPCA can take. “The reality is, it’s not illegal to kill your own animal in Canada,” she told People.
