We kicked off the 2016 travel show season in style, find out more about what you missed.

The TNT/STA Travel Show has been hailed a success after thousands attended the event Saturday 27 February, to pick up exclusive travel deals and bargains and to enter the widely anticipated lucky dip competition. Who wouldn’t want this once-in-a-lifetime travel experience for free?

More than 50 exhibitors entertained and inspired visitors with their passion for travel at the show, which took place at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

The long established event, billed as London's biggest free travel show, regularly attracts 10,000-plus Saturday visitors who, we always say, come along "to book, not look". The $1 billion-plus STA Travel Group employs nearly 2,000 people across 12 different countries, sends two million passengers globally on their trips, and enjoys an ancestry that, like TNTs, has strong links to young people from Australia and New Zealand undertaking adventure-filled trips to Europe and beyond.

We were really impressed with some of the great deals on offer and with the speed that our readers were snapping them up. Stoke Travel dished out half price passports for travellers that hate being tied down, Tucan Travel 50% off budget expeditions to Africa, Travel Talk 50% off Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Croatia, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Russia and Medsailors were handing out some great early bird sale prices to your top three destinations; Greece, Turkey and Croatia.

“The TNT Travel Show works because it brings likeminded young travellers together, with amazing holiday deals on offer from all over the world. This exciting show is a fixture in the MedSailors calendar and we are already looking forward to the Autumn and Spring Shows for the 2017 sailing season - make sure you pop by our stand to see what's on offer,” Irma O’Sullivan on behalf on Medsailors.

It’s not just about the tour operators, we had recruitment companies including Prospero Teaching, 1st Contact and Vibe Teaching Recruitment, accommodation providers St Christopher’s Inn and DJH City Hostels and removal companies (just in case you’re thinking about leaving us) Anglo Pacific World Movers, Excess International Movers and PSS International Movers and Philippine Airlines dishing out rum to the thirsty hoards.

STA Travel UK managing director Glen Mintrim said: “We are delighted to be working with TNT on the travel show. Both STA Travel and TNT are about helping adventurous young people start their adventure. Both organisations cater for an ever-widening community of international globetrotters, and have more than 30 years’ experience in fulfilling the travel dreams and aspirations of young and young-at-heart adventurers.”

Kevin Ellis, managing director of Startrack Media – which owns the TNT magazine, digital and travel show brand – said: "Year in and year out our loyal readers turn up to the TNT Travel Show in their thousands to bring their travel plans alive. The opportunity to improve their experience by giving them on the spot access to a world-leading service like STA Travel's was simply too good to miss."

The next TNT Travel Show date will be announced soon, so get saving.
